OUR SERVICES

  • Peer Support & Case Management

Our Peer Support Workers (PSWs) understand the barriers the people they support face due to their own lived experience with substance use or precarious housing. Our PSWs work with our clients to provide them with the necessary tools to live their healthiest and most fulfilling lives - as defined by our clients themselves.

Our Peer Support Workers are connected with a wide range of community partners and work with our clients to match them with the right service providers who will help address the individual's unique needs.

We also provide case management with our clients who want to work on strategic planning for setting and achieving their goals.

  • Service Navigation

We recognize each one of our clients have unique needs, and we are there to help people identify and connect them with the services in the community that will help people achieve their goals.

We support people who need help applying for government subsidies and benefits such as income assistance, disability claims, and old age benefits. We also offer assistance for people applying for Indigenous status.

We can help people access necessary health services like wound care and access to medical professionals and specialists, including mental health professionals and counsellors. We also offer referrals to detox and treatment centres for clients who are willing and able to make this step.

We are also aware of specific, localized services for clients who are looking for showers, food hubs, shelters, and clothing.

  • Employment & Housing Opportunities

CEDAR can help direct clients to a variety of employment and housing opportunities which are suited for those with lived or living experience.

For employment, we can help our clients with job applications, resume building, interview practise, and providing appropriate, job-specific clothing.

For housing, CEDAR is part of BC Housing's Coordinated Allocation and Assessment Table. This allows us to advocate for our clients to be placed in various supportive housing options within Abbotsford.

We also connect our referrals to shelters with available beds if they are needing temporary housing.

  • Harm Reduction

Harm reduction is built on a belief in, and respect for, the rights of people who use substances and offers practical strategies to reduce the risks associated with substance use.

CEDAR offers a wide range of harm reduction supplies and information for safer substance inhalation, injection, and sex. We also offer Naloxone training and kits so you can respond in the event of an overdose.

We also provide appropriate containers for used equipment and are able to dispose of this equipment safely.

  • Transportation

It can be incredibly difficult to attend appointments without access to reliable transportation. CEDAR staff can drive our clients to medical, legal, social service, treatment, or employment appointments within Abbotsford during our business hours of 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.

We’ve restructured our transportation services due to funding limitations, and are currently only able to offer transportation to our registered clients and referrals from the Abbotsford Police Department and Bylaw Enforcement.

  • ID Replacement and Storage

Proof of identity is often necessary to access services, find housing, or secure employment. The problem is that if you don’t have a permanent address, it can be difficult, if not impossible to replace your identification or access necessary resources.

CEDAR helps replace identification documents that have been lost or misplaced, including personal health numbers, birth certificates, and BC services cards.

With the client's permission, we offer to store their identification documents in our ID Bank until needed, to reduce the risk of the documents being lost, misplaced, or stolen in the future.

If you are looking for help for yourself or a loved one, we are available to talk.
